Photos of scapy and poisoned dogs
10th of October
Dear Kiia,
First
of all I am very sorry I reply you so late and please dont worry about
writting, your messages are very welcomed anytime, although I dont have
time to reply immediately, I always read it. It would be just great if
you could come here, it is very important to see with your own eyes
what is really happening and all the situation. You would understand
much better all the situation. We would be extremely happy if you could
visit us. We are very glad that you succeeded to make the website,
which is great, and the association. Hope that people in your country
will trust us and our work much more and especially if you come here
and make photos and films. People in your country would be very touch
about what is happening with the stray animals here. Yes, WSPA wrote to
us, but I didnt have time to reply yet. I do hope to be able to do this
soon. I am forwarding you their message. Thank you very much for
writing emails to other organizations, and tell them about us,
unfortunately, my time for this is very little and I never succeed to
write to others. Our work is huge, we work all day, we have the shop(
for about 15 years), home ( where we have all the dogs , cats and
rabbits), the shelter, ( that takes all the time to my mother), I also
have my job at a glass factory, we have to handle the project for the
new shelter ( yesterday I went at the land with a topographist to
delimitate it), the mobile clinic in the other cities, etc etc etc. As
you can imagine, it is a big work and it is only me and my mother and
the two employees that we have at the shelter and have to pay
them. There are shelters in Romania with much fewer dogs than we have
and have plenty of workers and financial help, but because we cant
afford to spend so much time on the internet looking for sponsors,
affects us a lot because of the lack of money. My mother has daily new
events at the shelter, sad or glad, but when she comes home at 10 p.m.
or even later she is completely exhausted and dont have the power to
put it down on a paper.
This
week we will have to meet the person who makes the PUD plan for the
shelter and after we have this we can meet the architect. We have to
think to make a change to the model of the shelter that we gave to
the first architect ( a model of a shelter that exists in all the
european countries with good conditions for the dogs) because he told
us that for a capacity of 400 dogs, cats and a building for clinic,
recuperation etc etc etc, courtyard, sewerage, electricity channels and
,many other, the cost would be about 200.000 Euros). It is an enormous
cost, unimaginable for us ( who receive some hundreds of euros/ month,
or sometime even nothing and try to handle as best as we can with this
little money), so now with this new architect we are trying to make
some changes of the model we have and to see the cost. I have been
trying for a time to make our fifth newsletter ( where I write about
all that happened lately) and to update also our website but, again,
had no luck because of the lack of time. I do know how important it is
to communicate all the time with the animal lovers, to let them know
all the news from the shelter and city but time is our big enemy.
Lately,
here in Tg-Jiu, takes place a big campaign of poisoning dogs, puppies
and pregnant females dye in pain, cats and also animals that have
owners. It is a big tragedy.People say that they have seen the
municipality's cathers who throw poison at the rubbish dumps from the
cities, and when the dogs are dead or even in agony they come and
collect them. Unfortunately, we cant make this public in the country or
to send emails and faxes to the authorities or to ask animal lovers to
make this because we are staying in the city hall shelter and they
threaten us that if we make public they throw us out or kill the dogs.
It is a terrible situation that we cant stop, the only way out is to
have our shelter and not to depend anymore on them. Then we have the
power to make them stop killing dogs and have the power to fight with
them. I know that many people can't understand this, but we are living
this nightmare of not being able to stop them killing dogs.
At
the shelter we have also 2 kittens, one it was found by my mother and
one by me , staying in the middle of the streets. We hope to find some
one to take them home. Also, we had been very sad lately because , last
week , after I went to Craiova - a city at about 100 km distance, with
our 14 year old dog, Tuta, the vet from there told us that she has
cirosis ( grave hepatitis) and nothing can be done for her. I have Tuta
from my childhood, since I was 11 y.o. and we grew together. She is
like my sister and I cant think life without her. It was extremely sad
and I still cant realise that anytime, from now, we can loose her.
Whenever we loose an animal we suffer a lot even if we have it for
several days, but with Tuta, I cant get used to it.
Best wishes,
Patricia
