News 12th April 2006
We all are eagerly waited news from Carmena and Patricia. I start with
neutering program as it has been the most important issue lately with
news from Tg-Jiu. Authorities in Tg-Jiu are still keen of starting this
program but there has not been any hurry of organizing it. The decision
has to be accepted in council meeting of City Hall and it will be held
in May. Before that Carmena and Patricia has to offer them an
acceptable contract for the program. If the offer is acceptable the
city hall might offer e.g. 2-3 workers and a vehicle for the program.
Also they have promised to improve the current shelter so that there
will be a place for recovering to the dogs after neutering. These are
the news heard today.
We have to remember
that there is no law in Romania for this kind of neutering programs.
They have been carried out only if the mayors and authorities in
different cities have been willing to do it. Usually this kind of
programs have been carried out in small cities, much more smaller than
Tg-Jiu is. And also the authorities can stop the program after a month
or so if they want to. Usually local people are not so keen to start
neutering programs because they do not like the idea that stray dogs
are released after neutering back to streets. Local people prefer
usually killing. But that is not the reason why not to start this
program if we have a possibility. We have to consider all difficulties
we might have to face and think strictly how we can solve them. We also
have to think how we can change step by step the attitude of local
people.
We have so much good ideas and plans
to get closer with local people and give them information. Not only
about animal welfare but also how they can improve their life with us
and working with us. One example is that we would like to give joy and
love also to abandoned and orphan children and old people – if we only
can have a change. There will also be a working opportunity for several
local people with these programs of ours.
Still we continue to carry out our neutering campaign for summer. That
was planned months ago and was targeted for local people. They have an
opportunity to bring their pets for free neutering and vaccinations in
summer. Welcome to support us with this campaign.
Carmena and Patricia have also gone through a very difficult and hard
process with the new shelter they want to build. Also it has been
extremely hard to find a designer or architect to co-operate with
reasonable compensation. Every one of us can also imagine how much it
will cost to build a shelter for 200-400 dogs with EU-standards. But we
do not achieve any of our goals if we even do not try. And we certainly
do.
Please, take helping a matter of your heart.
