Patricia has sent us very interesting news. Authorities of the City Hall of Tg-Jiu have told to Carmena that they are willing to co-operate with Neuter & Return –program if they could get a good agreement for that.

City Hall is thinking that all young and health stray dogs could be neutered and returned back to the streets. Of course they expect that people will take care and feed those dogs somehow after neutering. Old and sick dogs will be brought to the shelter of Pro Animals Romania.

Pro Animals Romania needs certainly help for doing this kind of program. They have asked help e.g. from FPCC and Vier Pfoten. They already got an answer from Robert Smith, who is a representative of FPCC. Robert Smith wants to help Carmena and Patricia but without the support of other organizations he is not able to do it alone.

Mr. Robert Smith has estimated that this kind of project will take 250.000 euros in first year. That estimate has been calculated for handling the problem of 10000 stray dogs. But regarding the information from Pro Animals Romania in the city of Tg-Jiu there are 2000 – 2500 stray dogs and that will reduce the cost of project quite much. New estimate is 130.000 euros in first year. The big problem is that people abandon dogs very much to the streets and the shelter of Pro Animals Romania. The Neuter & Return program will also include animal welfare education for local people and a possibility to neuter their pets.

In practice the project will include following:

A little vet clinic with a vet and an assistant, two dog catchers and one driver with vehicle and night guardian. And of course medicines.

A mobile clinic to give some extra support for the project e.g. in summer time. Vier Pfoten has already promised to give that support to Pro Animals Romania.

Of course we hope that the City Hall of Tg-Jiu would like to support this kind of project e.g. with electricity, water, gasoline costs, night guardian and a vehicle.
