There is quite much news to tell you this time.
First of all I want to tell about the best news for a long time. The
City Hall authorities in Tg-Jiu have finally signed the contract of
Neuter & Release programme of stray dogs. Carmena has been in the
meeting with the Vice Mayor of Tg-Jiu on Tuesday 24.10. and both sides
have agreed the rules of the contract. The representative of Four Paws
has been also in that meeting because the mobile clinic of Four Paws
will visit Tg-Jiu couple of times per year and help with neuters.
There will be plenty of work to do before the programme can start in
full forces but now we can start to prepare things knowing that the
contract has approved and signed.
Now all
the cities of Gorj’s county have signed Neuter & Release contract.
That means Gorj is the only county in Romania where all cities have
done that. Congratulations!
We will get
more information when Patricia returns from Slovenia where she is right
now taking part to International Companion Animal Welfare Conference
25.-27.10.
Patricia took part also to a Animal conference held in Vienna 14.-15.10. You can read about it here.
You can find also the presentation of Pro Animals Romania shown in the conference.
Last Saturday Patricia and Diana visited old people’s home in Suseni
near Tg-Jiu. Before “the girls” have had a dog with them but this time
they also had couple of animal videos to show residents. Old people
like so much those visits and are eagerly waiting every week girls and
dog to come again. It is so great to know how important this kind of
therapy dog programme is. Soon Patricia and Carmena would like to start
therapy dog programme also with some children.
We have also collected some material for educational programme for
school children. But always we have to keep in our minds that Carmena
and Patricia can’t do alone everything. They have to take care of the
shelter and dogs at home. Now mobile clinic is working in Gorj
neutering and spaying stray dogs and Carmena and Patricia have to go to
check every week that everything goes well. There is hundreds of
kilometres distance between cities and it is not so easy to drive on
those roads of Gorj. And Patricia have been lately much abroad
participating those conferences so Carmena’s responsibilities has been
doubled.
Tg-Jiu’s vet Popescu has returned
back to home after being in Finland three weeks. He stayed at the home
of Serban and Päivi Ursachi and was learning new medical methods in the
vet clinic of Serban and Päivi. The board of Pro Animals Finland
covered the costs of the flight tickets to Popescu because he had been
eager to learn new things and bought plenty of useful instruments and
medicines to his own clinic in Tg-Jiu.
PAFi
ry has reserved a promotion place from the shopping center in
Itäkeskus, Helsinki during 8.-10.12. We are going to introduce our work
there and of course there is going to be also some of our supporting
products for sale as well as lots with good prizes.
PAFi got a nationwide permission to collect funds from South-Finland's county hall for the period of 1.11.2006-31.10.2007
(OKU 1572 A / ESLH-2006-08234/Tu-52)
. This means that our association can openly ask financial aid for it's
projectis in Tg-Jiu, Romania together with Pro Animals Romania.
Soon it will be very cold also in Tg-Jiu and because of the last winter
was very difficult and harsh we try to do everything to improve the
conditions at the shelter. Last winter there was so much ice and snow
inside the shelter that ¼ of the cages were covered by ice and dogs
could not use them. Now Carmena and Patricia have bought material for
repairing cages and lifting them up, But without the support of our
friends it is not possible.
Let’s help together Carmena and Patricia to take care of the dogs in the shelter.
With best regards,
Kiia
