Tomorrow we are heading back to our friends in Tg-Jiu shelter.
We have waited so anxiously for this trip, once again we wouldn’t want to wait any longer!
However there’s a dark cloud over our trip since five of the shelter
dogs have somehow been managed to poison to death this week. That’s why
on our visit we must think of ways to protect the dogs from poisonings
in future. One option that has come to mind is to install video
cameras. There’s no such thing as a free way but in spite of that we
must do whatever we can to protect the dogs. I’ll tell you more about
different options when we get back.
This time we have tons of things to be taken to Tg-Jiu shelter!
We have received food and supply donations and first aid equipment.
Last night our vet friend, Serban Ursachi, left for Romania and kindly
took these supplies in his car to be taken to the shelter. We greatly
appreciate Serban for his help, it was indeed needed!
The donations mentioned and seen above we thank these people and companies in alphabetical order:
Ditte K., Eva A., Laura K., Riitta K., Mervi K. ja Royal Canin.
Tomorrow we leave by airplane and with us travels quite a large amount
of worming treatments, flea and tick control and eye medicine for cats
and dogs, antibiotics, Vitamin K, vitamin and nutrition additions,
carbon tablets etc.
Here’s
a picture of the medicine. All donations are not yet included since
when taking the picture the rest were with other travel companions.
The medicine mentioned above enabled us to have and the costs of them
helped to cover these people in alphabetical order. We wish to thank
them:
Aino K., Anja L.,
Annika K., Anu R., Elina S., Eva A., Ditte K., Donaldson Finland, Jussi
K., Kati E., Laura K., Lotta S., Mari L, Marja-Leena T., Niina H., Pia
H., Riitta K., Sanna A., Sari V., Satu N., Soili S., Tanja H. ja Tuija
H.
Also Anita and Heli have earned a big thank you for the logistics and other help they have provided.
In the last minute we managed to get anti-inflammatory pain medications
as injections, oral paste and tablets. These drugs are extremely
important in eg. treating acute sicknesses when you have to tone down
fever and pain. Since we managed to get plenty of tablets, there are
enough of them for a treatment too. We don’t have a picture of these
medicines yet but we’ll add them to our shelter report.
The pain medications mentioned above are not free so we hope to get
donations for them too. You can donate to PAFi’s account:
504506-291815.
Someone has already donated for these medicines but I’ll set up a list of these helpers to the next newsletter.
For the new shelter project we have received 10.038,45 euros worth of
donations. It seems that we have reached the goal to have 10.000 euros
by the end of August! Thank you all for your support. Now that we have
experienced in the most horrific way how defenceless the shelter dogs
are of eg. poisonings it is all the more necessary for the new shelter
to be build as soon as possible.
Especially the people in Tampere could mark in their calendars these
next few events. We are waiting eagerly to meet some friends!
PAFi will be doing some promotion in front of the Faunatar of Ideapark
on Friday the 21 st of September from 10am à and on Saturday the 22 nd
of September from 10am to 6pm during Tasauspäivät-event.
PAFi will introduce itself in Aatemarkkinat in the hall of the main
building of Tampere University on the 26 th of September from 10am to 4
pm.
The report of the visit to the shelter with pictures and all you will get to read we get back!
Regards,
Kiia
