Pro Animals News, 4.4.2007
The March campaign for the neutering programme collected 1.770 euros of funds.
22 people took part of the challenge by donating 5 - 300 euros that
resulted up to 709 euros. From Hämy’s tottisporukka (Hämy’s obedience
training gang) donated 95 euros.
From the dog days of the Ideapark’s Faunatar we received 70 euros (a
part of the donations went to the fund-raising box in Faunatar). We
received 106 euros from the flea market in Tampere and 290 euros by
selling t-shirts. The PAFi board donated 500 euros in March (and the
rest (=500 euros) will be donated by the end of May).
We are still collecting funds for the neutering programme so the need
is just as great as it was in March. To operate satisfyingly, the
programme demands at least 2000 euros on the behalf of Pro Animals
Romania. It is clear that the programme will be delayed at least until
the summer. We must have enough funds to cover at least 4 months of the
programme. During those 4 months we’ll also be able to collect funds
for the next several months. The movable clinic of Vier Pfoten is now
programmed elsewhere than Tg-Jiu all the way to the autumn because the
start date of the neutering programme couldn’t be determined.
There have been two new employees training at the Tg-Jiu shelter for
almost a month and it seems that they will stay. Let’s keep our thumbs
up that it’ll go well in the future too on behalf of them. Carmena has
had a chance to take a breath now that Patricia has been helping at the
shelter. It’s good for Carmena’s heart although she’s constantly
prepared and afraid of what will happen next.
When it comes to the animal cruelty cases, the bitch beaten by an old
man in the mid-March had been so severely paralyzed from its hind legs
that Carmena and Patricia had decided to put her to sleep.
The board of PAFi bought an Oster Golden A-5 2-speed trimmer for
Patricia and Carmena since it is much needed in the shelter. A 1.6-mm
blade was included with the trimmer. Since one trimmer is put to an
extreme test we will be more than happy to receive more of them, even
used ones, if someone happens to have them lying somewhere in the back
of the closet. We would also be happy to get extra blades for that
Oster Golden-trimmer we bought. They, too, are very valuable so we
couldn’t buy more than one blade at this time. We will send possible
donations to Tg-Jiu and of course we’ll take anything possible with us
when we’ll travel to the shelter in summer (most likely in the early
July).
On Saturday 21st of
April in the Itäkeskus Mall of Helsinki PAFi is organising a
promotional day. We’ll have a quick raffle with amazing prizes! Of
course, we’ll have t-shirts, bracelets and badges on sale too. I’ll
remind you closer to the h-hour, don’t worry.
That’s about all we have to say this time. Now why don’t we focus on painting Easter eggs – organic free-range eggs of course!
Best regards,
Kiia
