Marcela (below, on the left) lost her own puppies and the orphans in the picture. She took care of the orphans for a month. There are also some patients and old dogs living in the warehouse building of the shelter. During winters there has been only one radiator (the fuses couldn't take any more) heating the poorly constructed building. All the dogs have gathered around the only radiator.
 
In August 2006 a Finnish volunteer, an electrician, helped to improve the weak and dangerous installations of the warehouse building.
