Carmena in Finland August 5th to 13th 2008
It's been a
while since we wistfully said goodbye to Carmena as she headed back to her home
in Romania after her visit to Finland.
I had a
strong intention to write a very detailed report about Carmena's trip, too, but
soon I realized it was an impossible thing to do. I couldn't possibly find the
right words to describe adequately of the conversations, emotions and events we
shared.
Carmena is
very sociable, extremely energetic and highly curious and a person who looks at
things from many different perspectives. Sometimes it was hard to keep up with
her and find answers for those endless questions let alone make her go to be at
nights. In the mornings Carmena came to wake me up at 8 am the latest and as she had had her
cup of coffee, the joyous babbling began once again. Although I might have
thought at some point how I'd cope with the situation I enjoyed every moment
spent with Carmena and she is always welcome to our home.
On our
shelter trips the days are always so hectic and we are all running back and
forth so by the midnight we are always pretty tired to socialize
together. So now we really used the time during Carmena's holiday as
efficiently as possible in doing the things we usually never have any time to
do.
So, Carmena
had a really good time in Finland. In particular she enjoyed our
beautiful nature and friendly people. Carmena told me that she feels strongly
that she must have been a Finn in her previous life since she felt so close to
our country and people here.
Carmena had
time to stop by at a pet store Sello's Faunatar in Espoo and was very touched to see a fund-raising
box in the store and to know that people do donate money for Pro Animals
Romania and Tg-Jiu shelter. Carmena also flipped eagerly through "the godparent
file" that had a compilation of pictures of goddogs and their stories in
addition to important facts about Tg-Jiu shelter and activities of Pro
Animals'.
Carmena's
visit to Finland was full of relaxing and happy
moments and, of course, also some pampering. Carmena also met a lot of friends
here and enjoyed enormously their company. For all these years I have never
seen Carmena smile so radiantly and laugh so joyously as I saw her do here
almost all the time.
Carmena
asked me to forward to all her Finnish friends her most heartfelt greetings and
hoped to see as many of you as possible also in Tg-Jiu. I'm pretty sure that
Carmena will come again to Finland some day in future.
Pictures of Carmena's visit
We gave
Carmena something to be taken to Tg-Jiu shelter with her. These things included
e.g. antibiotics, deworming treatments, vitamins and trace substances as well
as dog care products. Of course Carmena received also some personal gifts from
her friends and was very touched to see people care. Thank you all!
Regards,
Kiia
