PAFi’s first Match Show was arranged on Sunday May 18th at Lempäälä’s Ideapark in cooperation with Faunatar of Ideapark, Royal Canin and PAFi’s Tampere-team. Despite the cool and slightly rainy weather, there were almost 100 participants. Even though the weather was cold the happening itself had a very warm atmosphere from the beginning to the end. We were happy to find out that we managed to collect over 1 200 euros for Pro Animals Finland and that way also for Pro Animals Romania. Thank you so much!
In the morning PAFi-people gathered up to set up the tents for registering, selling products and buffet and the fences for the show ring. The first dog owners with their dogs arrived just when the last products were put to their places. Little by little there were dogs everywhere in sight, many of these were the fluffy plushies. Without further ado the first ones were called to the ring: the plush dogs. Unfortunately Miss Finland Satu Tuomisto couldn’t make it so Eeva Viitaniemi filled her in by being the judge. There were plenty of participants and there were the most personal dogs and ways to walk the dog as the children presented the best sides of their plush toy pets. In the end Eeva had to make a tough choice and choose three best ones of all the good ones and reward these three. After that all the other future Match Show Stars got their little rewards, too.
After this it was time for puppies to practice their presentation and show as healthy and cute as possible. There were all kinds of puppies, big and small, some of them acted much like puppies usually do and some knew how to pose like a professional! Surely every puppy must have gotten some good practice for the future and hopefully we’ll see these puppies in future Match Shows.
After the puppies it was once again time for the slightly younger presenters when Junior Handlers of the third class were let inside the ring. Kristian Meurman, known from the Idols, was the judge. For him this was the first touch to the career of a dog show judge. Despite the little experience of both the judge and the presenters some very professional moves, determination and confident handling were seen in the ring. No one seemed to show much of tension and the dogs were eager to present themselves, too.
The three last categories of the day included dogs from tiny ones to huge ones. Peter Heath was the judge for the small dogs and Minnie Vane-Tempest and Seppo Are took care of the judging of the middle-sized and large dogs. Fiona and Tolstoi represented the stray dogs very exemplarily; Tolstoi even received a special prize as the oldest dog of the show, for his good health and for having such a great contact with his owner.
For creating such a successful happening with such strong expertise we want to give our special thanks to Faunatar of Ideapark and in particular to Karo and the volunteers, Royal Canin, Tampere-team and their home teams, the court photographer, every judge, show secretaries, the vet, the host of Radio Sun, the Ideapark property and of course all the dogs and owners who participated in the Match Show.
