The contract for Neuter & Release programme was signed by City Hall authorities of Tg-Jiu 24 th of October 2006 and that meant all the cities in the county of Gorj have signed this contract. In Romania Gorj was then the only county where all cities had accepted the Neuter & Release programme.
The contract included that the city of Tg-Jiu will provide the current shelter with expands meaning more kennels for recovering. Also transferable building promised to be placed near current shelter for operations and recuperations. These improvements promised to be done in Marc-April 2007.
There was a need of 3-4 employees to work under Pro Animals Romania. This employees was supposed to work as catchers, drivers and keepers. Of course the Neuter & Release programme would need also a vet with assistant.
The contract included as well that Pro Animals Romania has to start as soon as possible the project of building the new shelter and it has to be ready in the end of year 2008. The current shelter and Neuter & Release programme will be continuing it’s activities there. The new shelter will be naturally carried on by Pro Animals Romania.
Suddenly in April 2007 the authorities of City Hall of Tg-Jiu changed their minds and cancelled the signed agreement of Neuter & Release programme. Instead of going forward with neuter & release programme the City Hall of Tg-Jiu have made a contract with catching service company and started to build a new catch & kill shelter to Tg-Jiu.
We will defenetly continue our work for welfare and lifes of strays with Pro Animals Romania.
