The Education programme in schools of Tg-Jiu

Pro Animals Romania and Pro Animals Finland registered association have agreed to cooperate in giving environmental education for the lower grades of the schools in Tg-Jiu. The role of PAFi in this project is mainly to support Pro Animals Romania to get the necessary material and help them to tailor the contents of the education programme to meet the needs of the local community.

Pro Animals Romania hired a student to help with the education programme. This person had also participated in the therapy dog programme done in a care home for the elderly. Patricia is in charge of the education programme and has attended every lecture and group work relating to the project.

Our goal is to use the already existing English material as a basis as much as we can. However, the printed material has to be translated into Romanian and printed out nicely so we can proudly present it in schools.

The guide booklet used in the education programme is designed by Pro Animals Romania as a handiwork and the first edition (180 copies) was printed out in January with the support of the cooperation partners of Pro Animals Finland registered association. The additional edition (1000 copies) was printed out with the help of a local printing house of Tg-Jiu. The cover and the inside of the cover in PDF-format.

The visits in seven different classrooms began in February. By the end of the year already about 700 pupils had participated in four different sessions of the course and gotten diplomas and rewards (pictures).

Finnish Ministry of Education granted support (70 per cent of the costs of the first year) for the first phase of our project and we are very grateful for that. However, in future we must do this project on our own and naturally we hope to receive support for this project from those who find this kind of work important.
