We are on fire since yesterday. All the country is upside down because two days ago a man died in Bucharest because a dog bite him. So,since then all the national mass media, TV radio and newspaper is talking about the stray dogs. Last evening and night,were many many broadcasts on TV with the mayor of Bucharest and with the director of the Catching service but also with representatives from foundations from BUcharest. It is a real madness in all Romania. I cant explain you what really is, everywhere you see : stray dogs to be killed". The authorities said that they will change the law because it is too easy, that the dogs will all be caught and kept only 3 days ( not 14 as it is now) before being killed, that an animal lovers has  the right to adopt only one dog etc. They said that they want to give an Emergency Ordinance. It were made studies of opinion, Many said that they want the dogs to be killed, others to be neutered.

My mother spoke and spoke on the phone in Bucharest on and on. The problem is that in the country it is a madness, the authorities want to take a national measure against dogs. It were shown also the mayors of other cities on TV, like PItesti, BUzau etc etc who told that the stray dogs are so many and something must be done, they want to take the radical solution: killing.

Also, some ladies called us and told us that they found poisoned dogs last night in TG-Jiu.  So, it will start a national campaign against stray dogs.

They shown on TV, the dogs they were caught in BUcharest last night and yesterday, so many .....250 dogs, innocent, who are waiting to be killed in the municipal shelters.  I cant tell you how imagines were shown on Tv, dogs strangled with the catching poles, crying and dragged on the streets by the cathers, transported into the municipal shelters, shivering, with tears into their eyes and waiting to die.

It was announced on TV that they have no proof that that man was bitten by a stray dog. It was a suposition that taking into account that he was the President of the Japanese here in Romania, he might have been killed on command using a dog for fighting ( like a pitbull). Anyway, despite this, everywhere you still can see news about this and people blaming animals. I have told you that on Monday we were announced that there were find stray dogs poisoned here in Tg-Jiu. Well, just earlier,  an animal lover called me saying that her dog died. Her mother take him for a walk, he eat something in the streets when they came back into the apartment it took several minutes and died. The vet said that it was poisoned with a very strong poison and that the cathers are putting poison on the rubbish boxes in the city. Then, every morning they come and take the bodies. We asked that lady to make a written complain to the Police, Veterinary Direction and to us.

Last evening my mother called me from the shelter to tell me what happened. I have told you that the water pipes were frozen, you saw the sinck. When she was to feed the female that lives in the filed near the shelter, one of the employees came in a rush saying that the room is full full of water and the water is jumping with so much pressure. So, they had to look for the water tap in order to stop it. The room was full, the dogs were all in water, the puppies were almost covered in water.

It would have been a real tragedy if this  would have happened in the night when no one was there, and no one could  stop the water. All the dogs would have died by drawning. This morning, we found a plumber, who had an obigation to my uncle and had to come.  When he entered the room he started to vomit. Anyway, after this, he repaired the pipe. But, the radiator and the washing machine are dead because of staying in so big water. We try to see if it can be repaired.

Just came back home and was going to write you. Yes, the madness is going on. Couldnt sleep too much lately. A reporter called my mother and told her that Carciumaru ( the mayor of Tg-Jiu) told him , unofficial, that he hardly waited something like this to happen so that he can kill as many dogs as possible.

This morning another lady called  us and told that there are other poisoned dogs in the city. I went and picked up that dog. I cant tell what I felt, he was a strong and beautiful dog. He had a  pink substance vomited. I brought him to the Sanitary Veterinary Direction for analises, to see what poison it is used. I will go in the morning to take the result. We will ask animal lovers to make complaints, but dont know if they want.

Also, the local press is crazy. At a local radio station was interviewed the chief of the Catching Service who told that: " every dog that is caught by the municipality is brought to the shelter, where is fed, given medical care etc etc by a specialised personel from the city hall. Also, there is a foundation ( he was talking about us) that we give monthly  8000 RON ( about 2500 Euros) for their services". We couldnt belive this lier, how he could lie like this. After this my mother told to the radio in the telephonic broadcast that nothing it is real, that the dogs caught by the municipality are killed , or abandoned in the woods, or in the cities where we have contracts of Neuter and Return.

dont know what to do, we can bring that stupid lier to the trial for all his lies. Also, we are in a delicat position ,we cant tell too much as we are staying in their shelter and they can make lot of harm to the dogs. Also, other local radios called my mother for an interview.

A local Tv post went to the shelter and filmed there, so i am waiting to see later on their news what they will say. The same post had asome time ago a news that people are freightened by stray dogs and they must be killed.

Regarding Bucharest, yes they caught 1000 dogs and about 500 were taken back by the animal lovers. On the streets of Bucharest is a real slaughter as well as here.

A woman who loves animals and has a newspaper called my mother this morning and told her that she saw a terrifying scene here in Tg-Jiu yesterday. A little boy was playing with a dog, when the cathers stopped their van, caught the por dogs with a wire, and were dragging him to their van. The little boy started to scream, to leave his friend alone, he started to cry when he saw the dog full of blood, strangled and thrown into the van But, the catchers didnt leave him. Then the little boy fainted and the ambulance came and took him to the hospital.

There are so much tragedies happening here. I dont have time to write to everyone about this. And this is a reason why I am so angry when people we trust and that I have wrote for 2 years on and on about this, now they judge without any rationament.  I would like to have them stay here at least one day, a working day, to spend until early in the morning when we wake until very late in the night, to work with us and see that there is no time for anthing else,not even for eating or other things for ourselves.

Regarding the 1000 foreign student vets. Yes, Videanu - the mayor of Bucharest, told that a solution is to bring them and neuter the dogs, but he was informed by the National Authorities that the students dont have the right to practise and also why to bring foreigns when we have our vets here.

But, for the moment they want to take the decision to kill all the strays. So, it is important the support of animal lovers from abroad to send petitions and letters of protest.

At the shelter have problems again. the poor man  I told you about was completely drunk all day. when my mother called them in the morning they told they are in the shelter but they were in a bar on the gipsy street. the other employee admitted earlier. The poor one said to my mother that if we dont like him like this, he will leave, he dont need this job, who cant stand to stay here, and work with dogs.

I had just came back home now at 1,30 am. At about 9 pm I received a phone call that on a street there are stray dogs poisoned, one dead and other 2 still alive but in agony. I have tried for 2 hours to save the black female but she died in so much pain, screaming and struggling. She suffered so much, and I couldnt do anything else for her. The other female I took her home, she is now in the room with us and we are treating her, together with another puppy that I took from that area. The people told me that since Monday other dogs were poisoned and found dead, and the bodies were collected by the municipality's employees. Photos of poisoned dogs here

The local mass media came there, filmed what is happening and took interviews to people and me. You can imagine that I didnt tell nice words for the mayor and the chief of the Catching Service. Tomorrow will be on TV. Also, we called the police who came there. They told me that they cant do much, just supervise the area to see if there is someone who is putting poison. Tomorrow after I will have the result of analises I will go to them to make a complaint. I took the two dead dogs in the back of the car and in the morning I will take them to analises. In the morning I will go again to the Sanitary Veterinary Direction.

It is unveliable what is happening. I pray that the female we have at home to not die. I am really sorry to send you this photos, I know it is not easy to see. It was not easy for me either to see the poor female struggling in agony and to make the photos, but we must do something.  I am afraid that tomorrow this event will happen again.

I dont know what else to do. Everywhere in the country is a real tragedy. I cant stop crying of what I have just seen of TV. Dogs were killed by shooting in Buzau city today. A team from that TV filmed the hunting. They showed images and dogs screaming.The hunters received permit to kill the dogs. they say that are wild dogs but in reality there are dogs caught by the municipality cathers and left in the woods, so the hunters coem and shot them

Please forward news about stray dogs situation to every person you can.

On Monday I will put at the post office photos with the poisoning made and send it to the European Parliament. I dont know what else to do. Also, at the local radios and Tv were showed images about the poisoning made last night. Of course that the authorities deny any implication.

It never been like this, it is a national measure and it seems that no one can do anything to stop them.

THis afternoon, the female I took last night from the streets, died. the vet said that it seems to be a very strong poison. On Tuesday morning I have to take the analises ( the Sanitary Veterinary Direction vet said she cant make it sooner) The puppy I saved is home and bed.
